The Medieval conflict between Christians and Muslims has many similarities to the Middle East today and the use of terror – Much Recommended The conflict between two branches of the Abramic religion in the Middle Ages set a pattern that has periodically burst back into life. It has produced myth and legend but much of it is hidden by the mist of time. The Assassins and the Knights Templar had many interests in common and at one point the Assassins considered converting to Christianity to join with the Templars. Both had as many enemies in both camps and the fall of the Kingdom of Jerusalem and the ending of the Crusades saw both the Templars and the Assassins losing out. Both appeared to die out but have survived to today and their ruthless tactics of political assassination also continue. The author has provided a rich and absorbing history that unlocks the history of the Crusades and the early period of Islamic history. There are full colour plates in illustration and a wealth of detail.
