DESCRIPTION: The Images of War series has become extremely popular thorough
providing outstanding rare images, concise text and very low pricing. This new
addition covers the final battles in the West to the German surrender and VE
Day. – Very Highly Recommended.

The Battle of the Bulge has received much attention from historians, as has the Battle
for Arnhem. Around these two major engagements, there has been remarkably little
coverage of all of the other engagements and the crossing of the Rhine. The Rhine
Crossing was a major event that included large scale drops and landings of airborne
troops. The Germans continued to put up fierce resistance even though they knew the
war was lost and surrender in the West was preferable to surrender in the East.

The image selection conveys the range of emotions. There are exhausted and beaten
German soldiers, civilians amongst the wreckage, Vengeance Weapons, shattered
tanks, civilians force to view a capture forced labour camp. Victorious troops,
inspecting their trophies, contrast with utter destruction. All of this supported by
concise text in the form of introductions, extended captions and captions.

Another fast seller for a great series.
