DESCRIPTION: So you think you know Brutus. Read this book and find out who stood behind the mask Shakespeare crafted. In an original review of one of the Ancient World’s most enduring characters, the author considers Brutus on his own merits. The first dedicated biography in more than thirty years. Highly Recommended.

Brutus was immortalized by Shakespeare in the play ‘Julius Caesar’. The international reverence for Shakespeare’s work has meant that Brutus has become one of the most infamous characters in history. He did participate in the assassination of Julius Caesar and that act had serious consequences, leading to the fall of the Roman Republic and its replacement by an Imperial Rome. That has taken Brutus out of historical context.

Given his immortal infamy, it is perhaps surprising that Brutus has inspired very few dedicated biographies down the centuries. He does appear as a player in many other biographies for the period, notably those for Julius Caesar, Cicero and Octavian. That has helped to brand him, or as an actor might think, to type cast him.

The author has written a fresh review of this character and considered him on his own merits. He has presented the facts and offered compelling conclusions. The readable text is accompanied by illustration in the form of maps and a photo-plate section. A rewarding read.
