Pitkin Guide Cutty Sark

Pitkin Guides are printed in full colour throughout and contain a high photographic content blended with concise text. The Cutty Sark is a prime London tourist site, the tea clipper displayed in a dry dock at Greenwich. A two million pound restoration programme started in 1992. Everything that could be removed was taken from the ship and placed in storage while the work began on restoring the hull and decks. Sadly fire broke out and almost destroyed the vessel. Fortunately the basis of a complete restoration existed, aided by the fact that many artefacts were safely stored away from the fire. This guide was first published in 1994 in the early stages of the original restoration and the last reprint was published before the fire. However, this is an interesting and informative guide that provides a brief history of the tea trade and this tea clipper, her acquisition for preservation and the work which went into making her a much loved tourist attraction.
