This is one of those books that is a challenge to adequately summarize in a book review. It is a collection of overwhelming images of Ducati technology, design, style, and art. Each image is an example of outstanding photography that has been reproduced in a large format book on the highest quality gloss paper stock in a substantial binding. It will naturally appeal to anyone who is an enthusiast of motoring and motorcycles but it is an inspiration for designers and photographers and for anyone who appreciates lines and style. The Ducati story begins in 1926 and there is a section at the end of the book, printed in two colour, that lists all of the key years from 1926. As throughout the book, text is given first in Italian and then in English. The double and single full page images are magnificent and tell the style story with authority. Single full page images have a right facing page with title and brief text, giving first text in Italian and then in English. There is no need for more verbose text because of the strength of the images. The price reflects the quality and may restrict the younger readers who could benefit from the remarkable work, but that is the penalty for producing a high quality printed product. Considering the cost of paper stock and printing, the publishers have done very well to offer the book at Euro 80.00 The Ducati name began with the creation of an electrical engineering company in 1926. The automotive story begins in 1946 in the aftermath of World War Two and the burgeoning demand for motor transport which led to Ducati building its first engine and setting off on journey, producing the finest motorcycles that combined reliability, performance and great style. A story that can only be celebrated adequately with the finest collection of images.
