Artillery is a very important arm of any land force. In this photo
essay, the development of artillery in the US Army, from the Spanish
American war to the end of the 20th Century, shows all of the major
developments of that period. It shows the increasing need for air
defence artillery and the introduction of missiles.

In addition to displaying artillery pieces, the images chart the
changing uniforms and equipment that are as important to the
artilleryman and the guns themselves.
