GI The Illustrated History of the American Soldier, His Uniform and His Equipment, Custer and his Commands, From West Point to Little Bighorn

This very popular series provides a visual record of American soldiers from Independence through the wars that followed. The text is largely confined to captions and extended captions but adequately supports the fine collection of images. This edition looks at the career of the controversial General Custer, using images from private collections. Much Recommended.

at the career of the controversial General Custer, using images from

Custer will for ever be known as the General who was surrounded by
Indians to die with his men. It was the final instalment of a
colourful and controversial military career from West Point to Little
Bighorn.

Custer has been accused of many things, fairly and unfairly. By
accounts, he was vain, selfish, flamboyant, wilful, attention seeking,
insubordinate, a poor tactician and an unreliable commander. However,
his courage cannot be questioned.

This book provides a unique view of Custer through a fine selection of
very rare photographs. It is a fascinating visual record of this famous
commander.
