DESCRIPTION: This series does stray a little outside its apparent brief. In this DVD there is coverage of four engined US bombers, US carriers and Japanese naval aviation operations. There is also excellent footage of German maritime warfare aircraft. Created from original war film footage from archives, there is sufficient unique film to fully justify purchase. The English translations and sound track are not as smooth as they should be and the film footage does deserve better but most viewers will be happy to tolerate it and concentrate on some fine film records of air sea warfare. The commentary could have turned a good war film DVD into a great DVD and perhaps the series will develop in this area. If it does, the DVDs would appeal to a wider audience. In their present form they should still sell well and this DVD in the series fits well with the DVDs already released.
