The German Navy, like most other navies, depended heavily on destroyers. By WWII, destroyers had become the workhorses, able to support heavier warships, escort convoys, provide air defence, and a multitude of other tasks. In most cases, destroyers were multi-role vessels, capable of high speeds and with an effective gun armament. The German destroyers included classes that were much closer to British Light Cruisers, than to the average destroyer.

This book packs in significant detail, reviewing the classes of destroyer and providing service history. This produces a very reliable reference work and the level of detail that model makers look for.
