Most images are in monochrome, but there are also some very good full colour images. The reproduction and presentation is of high quality, in a very affordable book.

With many books of review or history, the number of images can be very small due to the cost of licenses and production, resulting in small photo-plate sections. The photo-essay corrects this and complements books that are largely text monographs. This means that many copies of this new book will be snapped up by historians and enthusiasts to complement their libraries. The low cost of the book means that it is also an excellent entry level book for new readers and helps them to decided where next they spend their money as they develop their knowledge of the subject.

Kurt Tank produced one of the most famous and effective aircraft of WWII. The FW-190 was initially used as a fighter and outperformed the Spitfire mark at the time of its debut. It was fast, agile and included innovative technology. As the war progressed, it was used as a fighter bomber and anti-tank aircraft. Arguably, it continued in production, as did the Me-109 and other German aircraft, after it should have been replaced by newer technology, but it was effective to the end of the war.
