A hundred years on from the end of the Great War, and there is still much to learn, with new
information continuing to emerge. This is the final part of a trilogy including “Britain Goes To War”
and “The Widening War”. Each of the leading historians contributing to this work have specialist
knowledge and interest in specific stages of the war and the campaigns.

There is good illustration. An enlarged photo plate section is very informative and maps in the body
of the text add the essential geographic reference points. The text provides fresh new insights into the
political, social and cultural consequences of the Great War.

After all the acres of print and the years that have passed, there is still much to learn about a conflict that
was thought to be the war to end all wars, but contributed to further conflict on an equally epic scale. It is
difficult to think of a war that could have had such a profound effect on the World and marked a clear
point in the changing of one age to the next.

The trilogy has added greatly to the sum of available knowledge and challenged a number of previously
accepted conclusions. This final edition in the trilogy is an important work for enthusiasts, professionals
and novices alike.
