As the subject is extensive, but concisely covered, there are bound to be those who feel a particular important aircraft has been missed, or an aircraft that is not worthy of inclusion is depicted. The authors and editors have made a very good job of their coverage and this is a book that deserves to be read. Some text is now slightly dated but the overall feel of the work is encouraging. Enthusiasts will buy this as part of an extensive aviation history library but it is aggressively priced and this is a particularly good starting point for those wishing to expand their aviation knowledge and especially good for the younger reader in combining an authoritative text and illustration that is very readable and offered at such a low price. As is usual, we have shown the recommended price but Amazon and other retailers are offering a good discount, in some cases for a limited period.
