DESCRIPTION: The author is a well established naval historian with some 30 books to his credit. This is the second of a two part review of British destroyers and escorts the previous volume covering the period from the start of WWII. He is teamed here with A D Baker III who has prepared the ship plans that make this a comprehensive review of its subject for serious enthusiasts, naval professionals and model engineers. The publisher has produced the book to a high standard and the detailed text is very ably complemented by a selction of photographs and excellent ship plans and drawings. The price is reasonable for a book of this quality although it inevitably restricts the readership to those who can appreciate the detailed research and first class production and justify the cost. The book falls into the category that was once fully supported by public libraries that traditionally provided access to printed material for those who could not build their own library of information. Hopefully some copies will find their way into public libraries and help a new generation of naval enthusiasts to develop their interest and knowledge. This is a book that every serious reader of modern naval history and technology should buy.
