Although there are several books about Luftwaffe Stuka pilots,
there is almost nothing about their Soviet counterparts. This is
the extraordinary story of Vasily B Emelianenko, a veteran pilot
flying the Shturmovik ground attack aircraft.
The publisher has built an outstanding catalogue of battlefield guides and 2016 marked an expansion as part of the centenary events marking WWI. This book is a very worthy addition and provides excellent illustration and clear concise text. Essential companion on a battlefield visit.
This is an interesting and entertaining collection of diary entries
made during WWI. They have been edited by the diarist's great niece
and provide a valuable addition to our knowledge of the Home Front
during WWI. A Fascinating account of life on the Home Front. The
drawings she made and the details she included in her diaries and
letters whent far beyond superficial detail and potentially could
have been considered a security risk. As a result, this is a book
will appeal to a great many people beyond the readership of social
history and human interest. Strongly Recommended.
When schools taught Ancient Greek and Latin, the study of Classics and Ancient History was a popular area of history. Many schoolchildren left with an understanding of the history of Ancient Greece and the movement of power to Rome. Today that has shrunk for so many to an understanding delivered by Hollywood that all too often provides great entertainment but very poor history. Here, the author has provided a portrait of one of the key figures of the period, often described as the Successor Kingdoms, as the City States of Ancient Greece were replaced by a rapidly growing and aggressive Rome as the centre of ancient power in the Mediterranean and beyond. A great read and an important work.
Peter Liddle and his team of leading specialists have produced a
provoking new book that features the latest research into WWI. The
publishers have already established a reputation for this type of
book and set new standards, highly recommended.
The Images of War series is always a visual delight, displaying
some of the rarest images available, many seen for the first
time by the public. This addition to the series maintains this
very high visual standard and covers a subject that has received
very little coverage in print before. Strongly Recommended.
