This book could have included ‘a man and his dog’ in its title. The subject of this absorbing account of flying in WWII is based on the inseparable bound between man and dog. It is a moving story with humour and sadness. A Great Read that is Highly Recommended.

The War in East Africa 1939-1943
Part of the ‘Despatches From The Front’ Series, this presents a fine collection of highly detailed reports as primary source material. The war in the Far East has often been called the Forgotten War but the campaigns in East Africa received even less attention. This book will be welcomed by historians and enthusiasts but its affordable price makes it available to a wider readership. Most recommended.
The Men Behind Monty
The author has come from a background of banking and finance, writing as an enthusiast. The result is a most readable book that shows its foundation on thorough research. Monty is one of that handful of successful commanders who has become myth and legend. As is common for great commanders, the many men on whose efforts the success was built remain largely unknown. This book redresses the balance by considering how each of these men made Monty’s successes possible and also shows how the General’s important talent lay in motivating those below him and then having the wisdom to provide support but to avoid interfering. A great book and a rewarding read.
The Road to Russia, Arctic Convoys 1942
The author has provided a stirring account of the massive effort by the Royal Navy and the Merchant Navy to maintain a flow of vital supplies to the Russian through some of the least friendly seas in the world. Highly recommended reading.
VE Day, a Day to Remember
Not many parties get their own book but VE Day was the mother of all parties, A fascinating read and revelation. Its also a great read and uplifting.
Endless Story, Destroyer Operations in the Great War
The publisher is to be commended for bringing back into print a best seller that was last seen 80 years ago. The author served in destroyers during WWI and therefore had a first hand experience of the subject. This is a very important book that describes the technology, tactics and deployment of the smaller warships that served in great numbers and with great distinction. Highly recommended, a must read book about a hugely important part of WWI naval history.
Operation Menace, The Dakar Expedition and the Dudley North Affair
The publisher performs a valuable service by ensuring that Marder’s books continue to be available as printed paper. Marder wrote a series of incite-full books on the Royal Navy at War. As an American, he took an external perspective and this may have helped to produce histories that cut directly to the heart of the matters. In this book, he dissects a tragi-comedy of a campaign where all that could go wrong did. As a campaign it may have been an unnecessary and unmitigated disaster, but the Royal Navy personnel performed with their customary courage and determination. A valuable and compelling history from an accomplished historian.
Zenith Aircraft
The Zenith Aircraft Company offers a range of aircraft kits for home assembly and this book has been produced as a marketing aid. However, it contains some great photographs and much information on building and flying light aircraft. Aviation enthusiasts will want a copy of this publication and its available as a free download from the Internet, or it can be requested as a hard copy which also includes a number of leaflets and cards. Introduction to a great adventure, highly recommended.

Auschwitz The Nazi Solution, an Illustrated History and Guide
There are so many books covering the German genocide program that it is easy to miss one which provides something unique, or comprehensive, or insightful, that makes it one of a small number of very valuable documents on the topics. This is a history and a guide which places it in a specific category. Much Recommended.
